Record cash receipts and disbursements

Use the cash books for collections and payments, including allocations and withholding.

Record money received

Open Cash Receipts for money entering a cash or bank account. Choose the customer or source when applicable, select the receiving account, add the date and reference, then allocate the amount to the appropriate non-cash counterpart accounts.

Record money paid

Use Cash Disbursements for payments. Select the paying account, supplier or payee, and the accounts explaining the payment. Add deductions or withholding only when supported by the source document.

Cash-to-cash transfers need both sides represented correctly; do not record them as income or expense. Review the total cash amount, allocations, and any withholding before posting.

Like other journals, these records move from Draft to Posted and can later become Final or Cancelled. Posted and Final records feed the cash reports and related ledgers.
