Enter opening balances

Bring an existing set of books into Libro without mixing opening amounts with current activity.

Prepare the cutover

Choose a clean accounting start date and reconcile the old system through the day before it. Prepare the final trial balance plus outstanding customer and supplier details. Do not enter the same amount both as an account opening entry and as a normal invoice.

Enter and verify

Create the opening entry at the cutover date. For double-entry books, total debits and credits must reach zero difference before posting. Preserve customer and supplier detail so their ledgers agree with the corresponding control accounts.

After saving, confirm:

  1. The opening entry is balanced.
  2. Each customer and supplier total agrees with the imported detail.
  3. The Trial Balance agrees with the source books at the start date.
  4. No current-period item was duplicated.

If you discover a source error, correct the opening information deliberately and keep a note of the reason. Do not conceal a difference in an unrelated income or expense account.
